Rollback Plan

concept-rollback-plan · canon/concepts/rollback-plan.md

Rollback Plan. The documented, approved path for returning a consequential operation to a safe state when execution fails, produces the wrong observed outcome, or must be reversed.

A rollback plan is not a hope that humans will figure it out later. It names what can be undone, what cannot be undone, which authoritative intent to restore, which evidence or approval is needed, which fallback path applies, and what audit or result record will prove the rollback happened. A transactional mutation may roll back automatically; higher-risk external effects still need a governed plan for recovery, compensation, or refusal.
