Observed Outcome

concept-observed-outcome · canon/concepts/observed-outcome.md

Observed Outcome. The recorded result of a consequential operation after execution: what happened, what changed, what failed, what was refused, or what external system state resulted.

Observed outcome is the counterpart to authoritative intent. Intent says what the system was allowed or expected to do; observed outcome says what actually happened. A result manifest, audit record, or decision registry should preserve observed outcome when the operation must be replayed, reviewed, reconciled, or defended later.

Observed outcomes also feed confidence calibration: the system compares what confidence claimed with what later proved true.
