Lossy Telemetry Boundary

concept-lossy-telemetry-boundary · canon/concepts/lossy-telemetry-boundary.md

Lossy Telemetry Boundary. The rule that logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, SIEM exports, and other observation artifacts may explain behavior, but must not become the authoritative home for business facts, approvals, rights, decisions, or outcomes. Telemetry is allowed to be sampled, retention-bounded, incomplete, delayed, or reorganized because it is built for visibility, not truth ownership.

The boundary protects both sides. Observation can stay affordable and operationally useful because it is not forced to preserve every accountable fact forever. Truth-plane records such as a decision registry, approval record, ledger, or result manifest stay durable because they are not reconstructed from lossy evidence after the fact.
